The Wheaton College Externship Program provides opportunities for current students to job shadow alumni for the purpose of career exploration. During this one-day opportunity, students spend time observing and often working alongside their alumni hosts to gain insight into the practical aspects of potential careers. We invite you to participate!

Students and alumni at their Externship Day event in Streamwood, IL
One hundred thirty-eight students attended Externship Day 2016, learning from alumni across Chicagoland in more than 60 different locations.
Here's what participants had to say:
"The whole experience was extremely valuable—but in particular, I especially appreciated being able to really talk to my host. He not only answered all my questions in depth, but also encouraged me, affirmed and allayed some of my fears, and reminded me that at the end of the day what keeps him there despite the challenges is the Gospel."
–Sarah, Class of 2017
"It was an incredible experience and one of my favorite days of my semester so far. My time in the NICU confirmed my desires to pursue nursing."
–Dana, Class of 2017
"I loved being able to see what day-to-day looked like at a design agency. This was a great opportunity to see what it was really like!"
–Emily, Class of 2016
"I am consistently impressed at the quality of persons that are Wheaton undergraduates... Each of the students I get to know makes me more grateful to God for allowing me to attend such a solidly Christ focused institution as is Wheaton College."
"It was great to interact with students at the beginning of the process of choosing a career, especially when they’re interested in doing what I do!”
